A Joining of Self (2023/2024)
A site-specific portrait of fragmented childhood and recollections of abuse, A Joining of Selfincorporates memories of different fabrics, dissociative experiences and phrases of manipulation that were used to threaten and enforce secrecy, ultimately breaking a silence that has been kept for forty years.
Welcome to Graceland (2019/2020)
A widower with an impressive love of Elvis Presley, Patsy’s collection has mushroomed from a couple of pieces of Elvis related memorabilia into a veritable treasure trove. The eye cannot rest in this place with so much to take in. For some it is simply clutter, for others it’s a rare form of beautiful self-expression. In this body of work my aim was to capture the essence of the man and his obsession.
An Act of Madness (2019/2020)
A collaborative project which was inspired by the few details known about writer Martin Towey’s great grandmother Bridget Towey (née Flanagan) and the circumstances surrounding her committal to Connaught District Lunatic Asylum in October 1914. Martin asked me to collaborate on this project by providing images that would create a context for the story and we published a book and exhibition in 2019.
An Essence of Presence (2017)
Just as a picture taken off a wall leaves a mark behind, so, too, do people by their absence. It is this presence of lives lived and memories made that I hope I captured for this exhibition which opened in Tuar Ard Arts Centre, Moate, Co Westmeath in 2017.
Stories That Remain Untold (2015)
Behind each of these images is an unknown history – a story that remains untold. Who lived here? Why did they leave? Where are they now? Where are their family? So many questions with so few answers.
Come to the Fair (2007)
A series of SX70 Polaroid images takes at some of the County fairs in Meath and Cavan over a two-year period. Fairs visited were Girley Fair, Moynalty Steam Threshing, Mullagh Fair, Nobber Fair and Scurlogstown Hay Making Festival.
